Chelsea Fire Station

2024

Commissioned by Sloane Stanley, Sian Bliss created a 30-metre hand-painted mural for the Chelsea Fire Station, running along the length of the King’s Road. The artwork celebrates the simple pleasure of food — the small daydreams we all have around mealtimes and the abundance offered by nature and culinary craft. From wheat to croissant, from egg to pavlova, the piece is a tribute to both natural ingredients and the imaginative ways people transform them. The mural was developed through conversations with local residents and passersby, whose ideas and memories helped shape the freehand design. In this way, the work becomes not only a personal expression of joy, but a collective reflection of the neighbourhood’s shared love of food.

This large-scale painting remained in place throughout Spring and Summer 2024 as part of an ongoing initiative to showcase local artists through rotating murals in this prominent public space.
